Survival Training
« on: 02:19:38 - 12/27/10 »
Hello Everyone! I hope all of you had a good Christmas! But if you don't celebrate it, then I hope you guys had a good break from work or school (:

I've a problem in training Survival here. Actually I intend to train Survival against the PS but I've too high a HP now. So I would like to request for you guys to bring me through on how to build a deck for an arena mob. Please reply here if you're interested in helping me! I hope that I will be able to talk to you on IRC or MSN too. So that you can teach me. Thank you in Advance, have a nice day (:

My level is 7 and my HP is 93

Goblin Shaman or Old Goblin should do the trick, just count how many armor and ward you need to survive against them, add 10% of that amount (because with survival you need many undrawn charms), fill rest with whatever you want to max besides survival (or at least raise) - and tweak it accordingly to the replays (you will want either to add or remove some defense, but you will see that from first one or two replays..)
goblin shaman
old goblin

Hope this helps ;)
Merry Xmas & Happy New Year!

Lets assume I'm fighting Old Goblin:

    * Old Goblin (Level 5)
          o 43 HP, 16 Spirit
o Attacks: Bronze Helm x4, Goblin Punch x7, Rat Flail x5

    * Drops
          o Gold: 22-25

    * Charm Totals
          o Magic: 0
          o Melee: 115 (0 Guaranteed Penetration)
          o Max Armor: 44
          o Max Ward: 0

I would need to win with <10% of my HP Remaining=0.1*93=9.3~9
Hence I need to win with less than 9.
I would need to take 93-9=84 damage
I would need to block off 115-84=31 damage right?

That would be correct.
Astroblade takes 899 magic damage(181 warded, 1 pierced)
Astroblade takes 1080 magic damageAstroblade takes 1080 magic damage

use cumulative defence to reduce rng hate (eg captain's hat) and lower defence charms are better as better  chance of still getting it if dont pull one (ie if it is the 1 charm left at the end), eg 2 x 7 armor is better than 1 x 14 armor

I created this gear, but it isn't doing well enough. Has like 33% gain rate.

Bunny Hood x5
Shoulder Glyph x4
Captain's Hat x5
Bright Fire x5

Magic: 30

Armor: 35 cumulative
Ward: 44 + 95 cumulative

Focus: 5 (30)

How best should I modify it?

I thought you only needed to block 31 points of magical damage? Go with a 20 charm deck (or enough charms that won't let you level up Cheat Death/Spirituality) and fill with 5 Captain's Hat. Fill the rest of the charms with very only armor charms (none with ward)
Astroblade takes 899 magic damage(181 warded, 1 pierced)
Astroblade takes 1080 magic damageAstroblade takes 1080 magic damage

1. Dunno why you use so much ward, you said you've chosen old goblin - the only useful defense vs him is armor. You will max Ward skill sooner or later, don't worry. It's better to use melee/magic charms (preferably dual runes) as a filler.
2. You need only 18 charms to not gain CD when the goblin exhaust (2 charms left divided by 18 = more than 10%).
3. You don't need 5x captain's hat here. 4x will give 28 blocked dmg (6 hp left). Add to it some basic spear (2 or 3 cumul armor) and you have now 30-31 blocked dmg (8 or 9 hp left). At the worst scenario, 2 captain's hats or captain's hat + spear won't be played and you will die, hence switching hats with more spears is a good idea (as said before, slow consistency is better than 'burst' 31 armor).
4. Try to make a gear that will give you many melee/magic skills and Balance, because this skill is very hard to master through dungeons/pvp.

1. I used Ward purely for Filler. If I use melee/magic charm as fillers, the goblin will probably die.
2. Alright, thanks for that tip.
3. I'm going to try 4 Captain's Hat+ 2 Copper Spear (2 cumulative armor each)
4. Okay, thanks. I will try that out

I will post the results in roughly 10 hours from now as I've run out of Action Points.

Could you tell me how many def should do i have if i wanna farm cheat death and survival on  Seasoned Fighter? my level is 16, 170 hp.  if i do good calculate for survi i have: 195-170 = 25
25 + 15 (avarage left to get 10%) = 40
so i need 40 if he wouldnt have piercing
40 + 33 (50 atk * 0.6 piercing)= 77
77 + 14.7 (98 * 0.15 piercing) = 91.7
91.7 + 8.4 (42 * 0.2 piercing) = 100,1

So i need 100,1 armor, right?

its my gear:
Bronze Axe x5
Captain's Hat x1
Reinforced Bronze Axe x5
Greater Earth Scroll x5
Earth Scroll x2
Yeti's Horn x2
Dark Iron Suit x1
Bronze Helm x1
Ornate Bronze Shield x1

Gear 'survival' (23 charms)
Melee: 226 (9% P)
Magic: 86 (4% P)

Armor: 94 + 7 cumulative
Ward: 7 cumulative

try to farm other skills along with it, if possible,
saves a lot of time ;)

and basically ya - you need just enough charms to exhaust it and then just tweak the gear - usually you want to spread the armor required among more charms so it doesn't hurt you when they don't get drawn.. (hope this makes sense :D)

Only do survival and cheat death farming on mobs that do basic damage, no piercing, no destruction etc - all these complicate the deck building and its just begging for the rng to hate you

Also, as a general rule, you'll find that farming survival/cheat death is a lot more consistent if you use a bunch of low-value armor charms instead of just a few that give large amounts of armor.
