novice charms explain?
« on: 22:47:51 - 05/19/09 »
I'm thinking about going novice, but I'm not sure how the charms work. Can someone clarify?  For example:
Novice's Hammer
    * 20 Melee
    * +5 to next melee during 4 turns

Obviously the initial damage is 20 melee. But what happens if I play a non melee attack next turn? Let's say I play an armor charm. The following turn, does the +to next melee stack, resulting in +10 to next melee? or does it stay at +5 melee with the previous turn having gone to waste?

The following turn, does the +to next melee stack, resulting in +10 to next melee?

This.  If you play the novice charm, then 100 charms that do no melee damage, the 101st charm that is melee damage will get the +20 from the (+5 during 4 turns).  Unless of course you're purged or normalized around the 80th charm.  Then you'll get nothing.  If you're normalized after the 1st charm (before your 2nd charm), the aura will still be in effect but you'll "lose" what you had to that point.  So you'll end up with +15 on the 101st charm.

it's cumulative if not used on the next turn; based on your example, let's use Novice Hammer:

turns
1 Cast Novice Hammer, 20 damage, +5 next melee (aura begins)
2 Cast some armor, +5 next melee
3 Cast melee charm, damage +10 (from the previous 2 buffs), +5 next melee
4 Cast magic charm, +5 next melee (aura ends)
5 Cast melee charm, damage +10

it's an aura effect. Hope the example clears it up
