Title: Higher rank of skills?
Post by: Therron on 08:58:30 - 02/27/10
Hi, Im lvl 7 and have mastered pretty much all the skills I have learned (8 out of 12). Now
what I wonder is how I get them to rank up so I can continue to evolve them?
Do I need do tier up? That seems wierd since then Im going to fight for 13 more levels and gain no skills.

Thanks in advance

There are sooo many skills left to be mastered at level 7

You just dont know how to master em yet

You must meet a certain requirement for some R2 skill. For example, to master R2 of skill like sword, claw, twinblade, etc, you must be a level 10, to master R3, you must be a level 20 and so on

If you are a Firefox user, you can try to use this greasemonkey script http://forum.estiah.com/index.php?topic=3402.0

With that script, you can see all available skills at your level  ;)

In addition to, you can check Estiah Wiki (http://progenitor-softworks.com/ew/) to see more comprehensive description of any skills

Most battle skills have a rank every 10 lvls, so from lvl 1+ you can get rank 1, 10+ rank 2, 20+ rank 3, etc... these include the 12 main damage ruins, armor/ward, spirit/will, also trade skills lvl up this way, like logger, and their extreme versions which you get from winning fights while gathering

Others rank up every 20 lvls, so from lvl 1+ rank 1, 20+ rank 2, 40+ rank 3, some (like heroism & cheat death) only have 2 lvls, so they rank up at lvl 1 and 40 only

At lvl 7 you have the ability to lvl 14 of the battle skills, as well as many many others such as balance, heroism, cheat death, survival, recklessness, tactician, destruction, etc... just follow the wiki link listed in the previous post and it'll give you tips on how to lvl up each one.

Thanks for the info guys.

I didn't mean  that I litteraly had mastered all skills :) , more of a way of saying that Im kind of stuck advancing the ones I want to.

But I looked at the wiki and saw that you get new ranks at lvl 10, 20 etc etc.
Now Im all up to date :)

Thanks

A follow up question though, is there any point in trying to rank upp all the weapon and spell skills when my goal is to be a paladin?
Since they use Con and Int, and Maces are the qeapon for those two stats.
Should I try to rank up frost, fire, shadow sword etc, even though they aren't the coresponding skills to my tier 3 class?

master everything.

This

Basically you need to master all skills, cause class spesific charms is outnumbered by general charms that can be accessed by all class. Its better if you can use all charms rather than stucking with class specific charms  :)

To answer this more specifically, there will charms you will want, and need, to use for certain dungeons along the way, as well as events, and if you don't have skills ranked to a certain point, you will be screwed.  For instance, the hyphused gear is extremely useful for certain fights in the 40s, but if you don't have rank 3 of all melee runes, you can't use them, and you'll find out the hard way that doing that is a very bad thing.  Also you will find as you lvl up, that ranking low lvls of skills gets much harder.  For instance, if you never lvl up shadow, you won't be able to ever use any high lvl shadow charms, excpet maybe vendor charms, and when you do try to lvl those up at lvl 50, you won't be able to cause you can't even beat high lvl arena creeps with rank 1 weapons.  And when you get close to endgame, you rely on every possible skill to get you closer to lvl 50/51.  What I've been doing, which might not necessarily be the best strategy for everyone, is I keep the rune skills I don't use within 1 rank of my others.  So my main class skills are all rank 5, and I have at least rank 3 of all other rune skills (some are rank 4).  This way I can use craft/treasure weapons up through lvl 39 of that rune type, so I never get too far behind.

The normal rune skills (shadow, fire, mace etc) aren't that hard to level even past 40+ since the vendor charms don't require any ranks of the skill. It's stuff like Summoning that really sucks to level since there's only a few charms that can be used without any mastered skill ranks and you can't buy any from vendors.

Still, master everything - it is annoying when you have the stats to use something and then you realize you need to spend the next 5 days in the arena to actually have the required skill for it. Happened to my Pyro with Corrupted Fireblade.  :(
